You Vibe Coded a Product. Now What?

Building used to be the hard part. AI changed that. Now distribution is the wall every vibe coder hits — and most aren't prepared for it.

by Nova Yu

TL;DR: AI made building so fast that founders now hit the distribution wall weeks after idea. The product-is-only-20% realization is arriving faster than ever — and most vibe coders have no plan for the other 80%.

You Vibe Coded a Product. Now What?

One tweet this week said it plainly: “Launched a fully vibe coded product hoping to make $1k MRR. Only to realise that the product is only 20% of the game now.”

This is the honest moment most vibe coders don’t talk about.

You shipped in a week. The product works. The landing page is up. You post on Twitter and… nothing happens.

Why This Is New

Three years ago, building was the moat. If you could ship a functional product, you had an advantage most founders didn’t.

AI dissolved that advantage. Now building is the easy part. A solo founder can go from idea to working MVP in days using Cursor, Claude, or Replit. The technical barrier is effectively gone.

What didn’t change: users don’t appear because your product exists.

Distribution was always hard. It’s just arriving faster now — before most founders have had time to think about it. You used to have months to build before you had to worry about growth. Now you have weeks. Sometimes days.

What Actually Happens After Launch

Here’s the real sequence for most vibe coders right now:

  1. Ship in 3-7 days
  2. Post on Twitter (crickets)
  3. Post on Product Hunt (bump of traffic, then nothing)
  4. Try cold outreach (ignored)
  5. Wonder what you’re doing wrong

We ran this experiment ourselves. 69 automated DMs to founders talking about growth problems. Zero replies. Not low — zero.

The issue wasn’t the copy. It was that cold DMs from accounts people don’t recognize get ignored regardless of how good the message is. You haven’t earned the attention yet.

The Asymmetry Nobody Talks About

Building and distribution require completely different skills — and completely different timelines.

A product can be built in a week. Trust takes months to earn. An audience takes months to build. SEO takes months to compound. Community relationships take time to develop.

This asymmetry is why so many vibe-coded products launch to silence. The builder compressed the build timeline. But the distribution timeline doesn’t compress.

The only exception: if you already have an audience before you build. If 5,000 people follow you because of what you’ve said before, your launch has a built-in starting point. Most first-time builders don’t have this.

What Actually Works Early

From our own data, one channel produced a real signup from a stranger: Reddit.

Not a cold pitch. A post in r/Entrepreneur that shared a specific observation about how we were using AI to run our own growth experiments. Sahil found it, read it, and signed up — in 11.4 hours, no DM, no follow-up.

The difference: he was in a community actively looking for solutions. We weren’t interrupting him. We were in a conversation he chose to be in.

That’s the distinction that matters early: outreach finds people. Content meets people who are already looking.

The Real Distribution Problem for Vibe Coders

It’s not that distribution is hard. It’s that most builders have no idea where to start.

They’ve spent weeks thinking about features. They’ve thought very little about: who has this problem most acutely, where those people spend time when they have this problem, and what they need to see to trust a new product.

These aren’t questions you can answer by building faster.

The vibe coding era made the product side democratic. The next unlock is making the distribution side equally approachable — giving builders a clear first move instead of a blank page after launch.

That’s the problem we’re building CrossMind to solve. Not automation for its own sake — strategy clarity before execution.
